Every video is now a Reel
Meta says all videos posted to Facebook are shared as Reels, whatever their length or shape. Stories and Live are the exceptions. Reels from business and creator Pages are always public.
How long can a Reel be?
Meta's Help Center says Reels have no minimum or maximum length. Its developer docs say 3 to 90 seconds for Reels published by apps through its API. So a Reel you upload yourself isn't held to that limit, but a scheduling tool may be. Content Monetization has its own minimum: a Reel must be at least 10 seconds.
What about file size?
Meta doesn't publish a maximum file size for Reels today, so be careful with any number you see quoted. A 1080p MP4 is a safe choice.
Other sizes worth knowing
| Where | Size | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Link preview image | 1200 x 630 | Meta's best size for shared links |
| Feed photo | 1440 x 1800 (4:5) | Meta's ad spec. It publishes no size for normal Page photos, but this is a good guide |
Scheduling video in AutomatePage
Trend Scheduler takes MP4 and MOV files up to 100 MB. A tall video of 3 to 90 seconds posts as a Reel, and other videos post as regular video.
